INTERNATIONAL INSTITUTE OF HELICICULTURE OF CHERASCO
When Culture meets Farming
We call them lovely snails
The Institute of Heliciculture cooperates actively with Italian universities in the scope of research projects and, within international range, supports many cultural activities placing analysis and competences at their disposal.

You can distinguish the Italian heliciculture by the exclusively outdoors production, with vegetable feeding, scattered directly into the fences. There is therefore no use of industrial and concentrated feeding.

The production methodology studied and tested for over 40 years by the Institute of Heliciculture of Cherasco uses the Mediterranean or continental climatic conditions of our country. The entire production cycle takes place outdoors, using mainly vegetable feeding sown with limited management costs.

Thanks to its efforts abroad, the Institute of Heliciculture of Cherasco has contributed to the germination of natural full-cycle farms in Serbia, Romania, Croatia, Germany, France, Greece, Bulgaria, Russia, Spain, Bosnia, Tunisia, Argentina, Hungary, South Africa, Lebanon and Jordan.

ParticipantsIn addition, it is in this way that also the snail breeding has become, in these 40 years, from a marginal activity, little known, risky even under certain aspects due to limited knowledge of the organic animal husbandry needs of the mollusc, to a real agricultural activity, more and more widespread and practised.
01
THE SUPPLY CHAINThe snail supply chain acquires greater value through innovative breeding methods with “natural migration”, the marketing of new gastronomic products, the success of the prodigious Muller One slime extraction machine, and the relationship with the world of cosmetics and pharmaceuticals.
02
INFORMATIVE DAYSThe International Institute of Heliciculture organises twice a week, free training days dedicated to those who wish to approach the world of Heliciculture. The days take place either in Cherasco in the province of Cuneo (Piedmont), the Institute’s headquarters, or around Italy in order to ease their use.
03
ON-THE-JOB TRAININGThe International Institute of Heliciculture has set up, for all ANE members, training appointments aimed at practical teaching of the construction of livestock farming, as well as detailed study of regulatory aspects that may be useful in the relationship with institutions (ASL – Veterinary Service).

QUALITY FIRST OF ALLOur effort tend towards the conscious affirmation and diffusion of a quality, nature-respecting heliciculture, oriented exclusively to the achievement of a high-quality standard. Our choice falls on an exclusively vegetable diet, through an accurate selection of those raw materials able to guarantee development, taste and fragrance.
